Cairn Cottage occupies an elevated position overlooking the bay of Port Ellen – Kilnaughton Bay – approximately a mile from the village and only 50 yards from the sea. It was built in the 19th century as a coach house and stables, and has been skilfully converted to provide a charming and comfortable house. Cairn Cottage is an exceptionally comfortable, spacious and well equipped traditional house only 1 mile from Port Ellen village and 5 minutes walk from a delightful, sandy beach. Magnificent southerly views from all rooms extending from the Mull of Kintyre to Northern Ireland. The cottage sleeps 10, is child friendly, and has a private garden to front and rear plus small wood at the rear.

Accommodation
The Ground Floor has a 27 feet living and dining room with views over the bay. Comfortable sofas and armchairs, colour TV and video, DVD, music centre, radiators and electric fire with surround. Dining table and 10 chairs, and a highchair. There is also a satellite dish (Sky) but tenants must provide their own Digibox receiver. Pay phone – Port Ellen (01496) 302195.

The well fitted kitchen offers views over Kilnaughton bay. There is an electric double oven cooker, dishwasher, fridge/freezer, washing machine, coffee maker, toaster, vacuum cleaner, etc. Ample cupboard space, shelves and storage cupboard. (There is a small calor gas hot plate/grill in case of power failure). Microwave. Ceiling drying rack. Radiator.

There is a second sitting room/ bedroom which is an attractive room with open fire, views over bay, double sofa bed. Bookshelves. Second TV and small hifi radio and tape player. Radiator. Also on the ground floor is a double bedroom with twin bed (cot available) and cupboard. The shower room has a wash basin, shower and WC and a door to the boiler room. In the porch/lobby is an entrance door leading to parking area and rear garden. The conservatory offers excellent views over garden and bay. Here are two single beds. Extending table and chairs, ideal for snacks.

The First Floor has a large bedroom with 5 foot bed, good cupboards, dressing table and radiators and again excellent views over bay and garden. The bathroom has a bath, wash basin, WC and a radiator towel rail. The second bedroom on the first floor has twin beds, wash basin, chest of drawers, wardrobe and radiator with excellent views over bay.

All living and bedrooms are carpeted and mainly double glazed. Linen and towels are provided as well as electric blankets. The cottage has a good selection of books, games and LP records.

The cottage is set in lovely grounds – fenced and walled which make it safe for children. Most of the garden is made up of lawns and flower beds, with many mature trees and a small coniferous wood at the rear. The driveway to the rear of the house provides ample parking space as well as a large shed.
